Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
- Work with a small team of product engineers in developing optical validation systems for AR applications
- Support the evaluation and characterization of optical components and system integrations to correlate performance to simulation
- Prototype and/or simulate optical technologies to drive system performance and validation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers in building optical prototypes and testing benchtops
- Develop data collection procedures and data representations utilizing Python scripts and optical characterization equipment
- Collaborate with the larger research team to explore concepts and drive optical system development to create compelling experiences
- Establish specifications for optical systems to ensure a successful product
Skills:
- Familiarity with optics concepts such as geometrical optics, radiometry, and interference & diffraction
- Ability to program in Python, C# (Visual Studio), and C (Arduino boards)
- Ability to work with minimal direction and manage a project independently from start to finish
- Working, communicating, and collaborating in a cross-functional team environment
Education/Experience:
- BS in Optical Engineering or related field
- Experience in defining optical test procedures and test setup requirements
- Experience with laboratory work and setting up optical systems
- Experience with optical software such as FRED, ASAP, LightTools, or Zemax
