Reality Labs is developing the future of augmented reality (AR) products. As an Opto-Mechanical Engineer for the display and optics team, you will be part of a team brining new concepts from prototyping thru to mass production. You will be developing advanced technologies and designs, and working within evolving ecosystems to provide differentiating capabilities to our HW platforms. You will be part of a group of engineers at the forefront of the innovation for AR products.


Job Responsibilities

• Drive Mechanical Engineering activities in a cross-functional hardware team

• Model, build, test, and refine AR products and prototypes

• Work across the full product development cycle, from concept inception to shipping product

• Apply rigorous engineering and tolerance techniques to high precision design requirements in the areas such as Optics, Mechanics, and Motion Control

• Coordinate with manufacturers and cross-functional teams on DFM activities, production bring up, and part and assembly qualification


Minimum Qualification

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

• Knowledge and application of GD&T and 3D noncontact measurement methods

• Strong command of statistical process control for process capability and equipment bring-up.

• Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing methods (Injection Molding, Casting, Machining, 3D printing, etc.)

• Experience performing RSS and/or Monte Carlo tolerance analysis

• 5+ years’ experience doing mechanical design for consumer electronics, optics, or mechatronics projects

• Testing and analysis experience (Dynamic FEA, CFD, or Ray Tracing)

• Experience in 3D design modeling (NX and/or SolidWorks preferred) and physical prototyping


Preferred Qualification

• Experience in opto-mechanical design and engineering

• Experience coordinating DFM activities and bringing up prototyping lines at contract manufacturing sites for consumer electronics.

• Experience with design and prototyping of head mounted optics systems

• Knowledge of optics component mounting, interfaces, and adhesive bonding

• Familiarity with automation equipment for consumer electronics mass production

• Familiar with Electronics and mechanical system testing, and associated data analysis and statistics

• 7+ years experience working on ME designs in consumer electronics, optics, or mechatronics designs


This is the pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position: $56.06/hour - $77.62/hour
