Job Description
Work in cross-functional teams with multiple engineering disciplines (optical, mechanical, electrical, software, firmware, etc.) to design and build engineering prototypes at low and high volume (quantities 1-100).
Guidance and direction to be provided by senior engineers and project managers.
Skills
- Mechanical design skills for components and assemblies
- Assembly and prototyping skills for form factor prototypes
- Documentation skills for capturing BOMs and assembly processes
- Vendor management skills for coordinating procurement of parts
Attributes
- Ability to construct and maintain complex CAD models of systems with mechanical, optical, and electrical components.
- Ability to work with Industrial Design and other partners collaboratively.
- Familiarity with consumer electronics design and optical mounting.
- Creative, enjoys design work and originating fresh design concepts.
- Ability to assemble, test, and troubleshoot simple optical systems.
- Ability to own the full prototype loop of design, fabricate, build, and test.
- Creative problem solver who is motivated to find their own solutions.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to create and maintain high quality documentation.
- Actively seeks out answers when stuck, doesn’t wait on the team.
- Ability to work with limited inputs and can handle ambiguity, make decisions.
- General curiosity and willingness to learn about new technologies and processes.
- Able to manage time effectively and work on multiple projects at once.
- Experience level: >5 years work experience.
Knowledge
- Design for prototype manufacturing processes such as 3D printing, milling, and turning.
- Design for production processes such as injection molding, stamping, and casting.
- Volume manufacturing line layout and inventory management strategies.
- Solidworks mechanical CAD experience strongly preferred.
This is the pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position $53.90/hour - $74.62 /hour
