Job Description
- Conduct VR/AR opto-mechanical assembly, alignment and perform testing.
- Build test fixtures and data acquisition systems for test and measurement of optics/display modules and systems
- Perform electrical and optical characterizations of display systems, semiconductor optoelectronics devices and modules (display panels, semiconductor laser, LED, etc). DC and RF test
- Use optical beam characterization equipment, including spectrometers, power and energy meters, integrating spheres and scientific cameras.
Job Responsibilities
- Use electronic test equipment to characterize semiconductor laser performance (Optical Spectrum Analyzers, oscilloscope, network analyzers, semiconductor parameter analyzer)
- Work with research staff to design, set-up, and calibrate new tools for optical and electrical characterization.
- Work with research staff and engineering staff to analyze properties and performance of tested devices
- Follow all safety protocols. Identify gaps in protocol and make recommendations for improvement proactively
- Write test documentation and procedures for photonics systems, devices, and supporting electronics.
- Support staff for tool modifications and maintenance
Skills and experience:
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to manage multiple/concurrent projects.
- Hand-on experience of optical and electrical metrology and testing
- Experience with motion/camera control using software such as LabVIEW/Matlab/Python.
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics or equivalent
- Experience using optics/display characterization equipment, such as spectrometers, power and energy meters, integrating spheres and scientific cameras
Preferred:
- Experience with semiconductor optoelectronic devices (display panels, LED, VCSELs, semiconductor lasers)
- Experience with scientific programming languages such as Python, Matlab, Mathematica, or simila
- Experience with near-eye display system
- 2+ years experience with radiometry and photometric units.
This is the pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position $57.06/hour - $79.00/hour
