Job Description:
The main function of the process engineer is to work with research scientists and engineers on the development, characterization, and manufacture of materials for optics. The right candidate will have previous lab experience, as well as excellent attention to detail and cross-functional communication.
Job responsibilities:
• Conduct research into the structures and properties of materials and use this information to improve current processes and guide the development of new materials.
• Plan laboratory experiments to confirm the feasibility of various processes and techniques used in the production of materials having special characteristics.
• Devise testing methods to evaluate the effects of processing conditions on material fabrication.
• Help determine manufacturing best practices to produce components that meet required specifications for product development.
Skills:
• Wet lab experience, including formulation preparation for testing.
• Experience with basic laboratory tools for characterization, such as microscopy, DSC, UV-Vis, FT-NIR, SEM.
• Ability to perform tasks independently and effectively manage one’s time.
• Problem solving skills, attention to detail, and verbal and written communication skills.
Minimum qualifications:
• MS degree is field of process engineering, material science, chemical engineering, polymer science, or equivalent experience.
This is the pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position $33.90/hour - $46.94/hour
