The Meta RL Technology Engineering Team has the responsibility for taking breakthroughs in core technology and delivering them to market at scale.


Technology Engineering Camera Team seeks research scientists who have extended experience on applying computer vision and machine learning for AR/VR applications. Work in a small and dynamic team to develop imaging technology for 3D scene understanding and recreate augmented reality to enrich human perception.


Preferred candidate has a strong understanding of computer vision, computer graphics, machine learning, human color perception and physical-based lighting modeling.


Job Responsibilities

  • Research, design and develop computer vision and machine learning algorithms for light estimation and virtual object rendering
  • Research, design and develop applied color perception algorithms for camera and AR applications
  • Develop camera calibration and image processing algorithms
  • Implement and support large dataset generation and processing for algorithm development (AI/ML) in new technology explorations
  • Work with cross-functional teams and provide leadership and expertise for new project development and productization.


Minimum Qualifications

  • MS/PhD degree in computer science, electrical engineering, imaging science, color science, physics or a related field.
  • 3+ years experience (inclusive of graduate school research experience) in computer vision and machine learning on light estimation or scene understanding.
  • Experience in 3D computer graphics, lighting, shading
  • Proficient coding skills in at least one of the following languages: Python, C/C++.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of computer vision, machine learning, image processing, HDR imaging, image segmentation, depth estimation, human color perception, and AR/VR rendering.
  • Understanding of light sensor, image sensor, camera and display hardware systems.
  • Experience on optimizing algorithms for real-time on embedded systems
  • Strong communication skills for working with cross-functional teams.


This is the pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position $54.37/hour - $75.27/hour
